Ice Skating On Four Wheels...I Don't Recommend It!

We had a wonderful week celebrating our Savior's birth. We received more gifts than we deserve, watched our son light up with each shiny package and had way too much junk food. Our week began on Sunday with Joe's mom's family. Monday we exchanged gifts with Joe's immediate family. On Christmas Eve we enjoyed 2 beautiful services and a get together with more of Joe's extended family. Christmas Day (morning) was just for us. We exchanged gifts, had breakfast together and watched Zeke run from toy to toy. I could not ask for more.

All week long it appeared as though Zeke had been coming down with an ear infection. Due to the holidays I was unable to get him into his Dr. until Friday morning. With is Dr. being 45 minutes away and questionable weather Joe decided to drive us and we could do a little shopping afterwards. We never did make it to the Dr.

About 20 minutes into our drive we hit a sheet of black ice and lost complete control of our vehicle. We swerved to the right and then slid across the center line of the major highway we were traveling and directly into oncoming traffic. I remember looking at the red truck which was rapidly approaching and then noting a ditch in front of us. I said "if we could just hit that ditch." Well, we did hit the ditch but it wasn't the gentle stop we were hoping for. The momentum spun us 180 degrees and then rolled us not so gently onto the top of our vehicle.

All 3 of us were safely strapped into our seatbelts and hanging upside down. We were able to crawl from the vehicle and safely await emergency personnel within the warmth of a witnesses' vehicle. PRAISE THE LORD we were all completely unijured.

It took nearly 20 minutes for emergency personnel to arrive as they slid off the road themselves and then passed another accident which happened right after ours. The tow truck took over 2 hours as they too slid off the road. That section of the highway was shut down for over an hour until the temperature rose the necessary 2 degrees to thaw.

It was not the day we had planned but we walked away praising God for His protection during what could have been a much worse story. We are now wading through insurance red tape and sporting a rather tiny rental vehicle. And oh yes, Zeke does have a double ear infection :(

A Week of Christmas!

Zeke and cousin Logan waiting to open gifts.

It didn't take Zeke long to figure out this gift opening thing!

The Proudfoot kids all went in and got mom and dad P. a computer for Christmas. I think we really surprised them!

Joe and his family.

Christmas morning was just for our family. After the practice he'd gotten in earlier in the week, it didn't take Zeke long to figure out how to shred paper.

A discarded binkie, nough said!

Special Guests

We had the wonderful privilege of hosting Zeke's birthmother and son this week. They have been visiting with out of state family and were able to stay one night with us on their way home. As an adoptive mom I can't say what a blessing it is to witness firsthand the love she has for Zeke. Each time I am reminded of her unselfishness and am challenged to live up to her legacy. She is a remarkable woman.

What Memories Are Made Of

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. It wasn't quite as slow as I thought it would be but we had a great time making memories together.

On Wednesday Zeke helped me make sugar cookies.

This is Zeke on a sugar high :)

Since our family Thanksgiving wasn't til 5 we enjoyed breakfast together Thursday morning.

I know Halloween was a month ago, but, I use a pumpkin for a special Thanskgiving recipe. Zeke and Joe had way too much fun carving the pumpkin for me.

Our little cowboy watching the Macy's Parade.

Grandma Proudfoot has brand new puppies.

Showing G.G. who's who on the fridge.

Daddy needed help setting up the tree on Friday :)

Zeke insisted on helping mommy but then wasn't too sure once he got up there :)

On Saturday we went to watch daddy in the Turkeybowl. Look Nana, gloves and a hat :)

The game was a blowout so Zeke decided to snooze.

I'm blessed with the most wonderful boys in my life!
